Launch of Boyne Valley Tourism brochure in Chinese

On Friday, September 20th, Meath County Council welcomed the Governor of Guizhou Province, Ms Shen Yiqin, and the Mayor of Guiyang City, Mayor Chen Yan and a number of other senior officials from China, to Buvinda House. Meath has a Sister-City agreement with Guiyang stretching back five years.  Meath County Council representatives met with the delegation and successfully explored opportunities for future cooperation.

A new Boyne Valley Tourism guide which is now available in Chinese was presented to the Governor by Cllr Wayne Harding, Cathaoirleach, during a formal exchange of tourism brochures.  Speaking at the launch, Cllr. David Gilroy, Chairperson of Boyne Valley Tourism said, ’We are delighted to share this occasion of the launch of our new Chinese version of the Boyne Valley Guide with Governor Shen Yiqin and our colleagues from Guizhou Province.  We produced this new brochure in order to maximise on the potential deriving from three new services between Ireland and China from Bejing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong direct to Dublin. We wish to strengthen the relationship between both countries and believe we have a lot to offer visitors from China including our vast heritage product, the national landscape and our wonderful food.’  Many Boyne Valley Tourism members have completed the China Ready programme with Failte Ireland and have already seen an increase in business from this market, including Causey Farm, Knightsbrook Hotel and CityNorth Hotel.
