The countdown is on to the opening of the 10th Guth Gafa International Film Festival at Headfort House, and volunteers are urgently needed to help make the magic happen.

Guth Gafa is celebrating its 10th birthday this coming weekend with a bumper summer party of amazing film, mouth-watering food and live music in the glorious gardens of the 18th century Headfort House.
Over 60 of the best and latest documentary films from 25 different countries around the world, including 32 Irish Premieres will be screened in five specially constructed cinemas over four days and the festival will welcome 35 filmmakers from as far afield as Australia, Canada and Siberia.
The programme which gets underway on Thursday morning includes a great range of films for kids, teens and families.
And this year, the festival village will include a Virtual Reality Cinema to showcase some of the latest documentary films in VR technology, a first for any Irish film festival. The programme is live on Guth Gafa www.guthgafa.com.
The Guth Gafa Festival Club at Headfort House will be the ambient setting for some spectacular music with an international flavour that’s in keeping with the films on offer.
Things kick off at 11pm on Friday night with Belfast Blues man, Mark Braidner and his Blues Trio.
Saturday night’s post film entertainment begins at 10.30 with The Dublin Bluegrass Collective, a Dublin based five piece bluegrass band with members from Toronto, Czech, France and the West of Ireland.
They will be followed by the Saturday headline act, the extraordinarily talented Congolese musician and singer Niwel Tsumbu who, along Eamonn Cagney and Patrick Groenland, combine sublime percussion, guitars and vocal skills to create a unique world music sound.
Also on site over the four days will be delicious BBQ food, salads, ice-cream a wine and cheese bar, and a bar serving delicious cold beer and our own brand cider!
So drop in to say happy birthday and savour the atmosphere. There’s no cover charge, just great company and a great atmosphere. Who knows, you might even stay and watch a film!
