Fáilte Ireland Funding of €445k Announced for Ireland’s Ancient East Projects in Meath

The Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan, today announced €445k in funding from Fáilte Ireland’s Capital Grants Allocation for 2016 for two key projects in County Meath, within Ireland’s Ancient East.

A grant of €350k has been awarded towards the development of interpretation plans for some of the key heritage attractions in the Boyne Valley while a further grant of €95k has been allocated to the Office of Public Works (OPW) towards the continuing development of the Stone Age site at Knowth, Co Meath.

A tourist attraction for the modern age” so said Mayor of the Borough District of Drogheda Cllr. Oliver Tully on Thursday. He was launching the new Boyne Valley interactive exhibition for tourists at The Tholsel.

Co-funded by Louth County Council and Fáilte Ireland, the exhibition provides visitors to Drogheda Tourist Office with a cutting edge introduction to all that the beautiful Boyne Valley has to offer.
