Droichead Arts Centre is delighted to announce that we have reopened ours doors. Director, Collette Farrell and her team have been busy working behind the scenes and plan to open in stages, initially with the gallery space and box office in Stockwell Street.

"We have been dreaming and scheming behind the scenes, our buildings might have been closed, but the creativity continued remotely through our #DroicheadConnects programme. Now slowly, cautiously, nervously, we will re-open our arts centre, the gallery first, and later in September, hopefully our venue. We have implemented our Covid Reponse plan, our management team have completed Covid Officer Training, we have installed protective screens, wall sanitisers, and there is now a lot of yellow popping up. We have new cleaning protocols and new visitor’s protocols in place. We are all a little changed over the past four months. Our Centre will look different, but our values and our mission remain the same, we will continue to support the work and development of artists in the North East Region, with a warm welcome for our loyal audiences and supporters.

An arts centre is nothing without artists, so Droichead is bringing twenty-seven visual artists together for a new creative initiative called CONNECTION, which is part of an ongoing commitment to participate and engage in reinvigorating our community during a time of crisis. The CONNECTION project will have three elements – a live evolving gallery exhibition created by six local artists, bespoke posters created by the eleven Borrowed Ground visual artists and an outdoor exhibition featuring local, national and international artists curated by artist/curator Brian Hegarty in and around Drogheda on Culture Night (18 September). Droichead is also producing Solo@Home, a video podcast series curated by SJ McArdle between 6 August to 9 August as part of #DroicheadConnects. Musicians featured include Nuala KennedyFarah Elle,  Úna Keane; and Breifne Holohan.  Alongside these programmes the first of our Droichead Diary submissions are published online and in the Drogheda Independent, and we are still looking for short films from young people aged 12 - 16 for our youth focus film showcase. Later in the Autumn, we hope to bring back our film and theatre clubs.

So come visit us, check out our online series, and publications on our social media channels and website, and continue to support your arts centre which is celebrating 30 years on the 30 July"
