The Spirits of Meath Festival is back for 2022.

Date: 15/09/2022

The Boyne Valley has long been considered as the home of Halloween. According to legend, Samhain, the ancient Celtic Festival that we now call Halloween, originated at Tlachtga (also known as the Hill of Ward) in Co. Meath in the Boyne Valley! So what better place to celebrate Halloween than a trip to the Boyne Valley to experience the Spirits of Meath Festival 2022 which will run from the 1st October to 6th November.

Spirits of Meath Halloween Festival

A brand new website launched recently that provides a one stop shop to view all the events happening for the festival as well as a great selection of accommodation offers in Boyne Valley hotels and guesthouses.

This year’s line-up is full of exciting (and scary) events and activities that will appeal to all age groups. One of the highlights of the Spirits of Meath Festival is always Farmaphobia at Causey Farm which will take place from the 1st October to the 1st November. The event is always very popular and features a variety of spooktacular events. Last year the event featured “Purge Night”; “CarnEvil” and “Momma’s Murder Maize” so you can be sure of plenty of scaretainment this year! Farmaphobia is strictly 13+ and all 13–16-year-olds must accompanied on site by an adult.

Forest-of-Doom

From Saturday 23rd October to Sunday 31st October, Bee Wise Nature Trail at Kilmessan will host the Forest of Doom! A specially themed Halloween walk where you can visit different scary houses and meet some witches, ghosts and skeletons while receiving some treats from their cauldrons! They will also be hosting Bee tricked and Bee treated on Sunday 23rd, the three days of the October Bank holiday weekend and on Wednesday the 2nd of November.

Do you want to carve your own pumpkin? Then you won’t want to miss Pumpkin and Fun 2022 which will take place at Navan Adventure Centre on October 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th and 31st. There will be magic shows, pumpkin carving, a Halloween disco, activities (such as football golf) and so much more.

On the 28th, 29th or 30th October take a trip to Tayto Park to experience the Cú Chulainn Coaster in the dark, brave the Rotator or take to the night sky on Endeavour and much more! Note this is a non-scare event. Also, brand new for 2022, check out Dino Dash at night and watch out for twists and turns avoiding the grasp of the Raptors. Tayto park will also be hosting the Tricky Trail this year which will feature fun interactive games, spooky storytelling, potions, spell casting and magical performances by a whole host of characters!

If you like your Halloween to have more treats than tricks, then the Samhain Food Festival might be for you. Taking place from the 4th – 6th November in Kells the festival will feature cookery demos, food & drink tastings, farm tours, producer visits, farmer’s markets, panel discussions, kids workshops & more. The festival will feature award winning chefs, bestselling cookery book authors, culinary experts, food writers & thought leaders.

Puca

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without the Púca Festival, which is returning from the 28th – 31st October in various locations across Trim and Athboy. The festival will be four days of music, feasting and much more. Headliners for this year include Gavin James, Imelda May, King Kong Company, Block Rockin’ Beats, The High Kings, Blindboy, Joanne McNally, Neil Delamere, David O’Doherty, and Jason Byrne.
