Hinterland Festival of Literature & Arts in the heritage town of Kells 23 - 26th June
THE HINTERLAND FESTIVAL PROGRAMME IS HERE
We're delighted to announce the programme for the 10th Hinterland Festival of Literature and Arts. Join us in Kells, Co. Meath for over 60 different events running from 23 - 26 June.
Hinterland is an annual multi-disciplinary arts festival based in the spiritual home of the Book of Kells. This year's festival promises an illuminating journey of debate, discussion, reflection and imagination – on the world as it is, and how it might be.
Tickets are now on sale. Browse the full programme here.
After an all-online version of the festival in 2020 and a pared back event in 2021 Hinterland is pleased to announce that we are returning with a fully laden festival of 60+ events.
Guests this year include the award-winning detective fiction writer Val McDermid, Joy Division/New Order percussionist Stephen Morris, actor and writer Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series), RTÉ GAA commentator Marty Morrissey, Irish Times columnist Fintan O'Toole, first time novelists Declan O'Rourke (better known as one of our top singer-songwriters) and Catherine Prasifka (currently riding high in the best-seller lists), RTÉ newscaster Eileen Dunne (on her book on the GAA All Stars) as well as musical performances from Kila and Michael Brunnock. We will also feature regular and occasional favourites like Michael Harding and Tom Dunne (the album in focus this year-on its 50th anniversary-is The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
We begin on Thursday 23 June with a 'festival within a festival'. Hindsight will offer two days of history talks, beginning with a day of lectures on the Irish Civil War sponsored by Meath County Libraries.
