The Point to Point and Country Fair at Dowth is now firmly established as a “must attend” date in the calendar, on the Sunday of the October Bank Holiday weekend.
This celebration of great racing, food and family fun sees thousands gather at the Old Racecourse, Dowth which is part of the Brú na Bóinne, Unesco World Heritage Site. Guaranteed to be as much fun as you can have with your wellies on!
Racing
The Dowth Point to Point offers 6 races all over 3 miles and fences. What is Point-to-Pointing? If you’ve never been to a Point-to-Point before, you’re in for a great days entertainment. A Point-to-Point is racing over fences for mainly younger horses, ridden by amateur jockeys. It is governed by the Turf Club and each fixture is run by a registered hunt club – in this case a joint effort by the Meath Hunt & Tara Harriers.
In addition to the fantastic racing check out the artisan food market, the shopping village and the country fair exhibits. With a kids zone and an amazing choice of delicious food and beverages from a wide variety of food vendors, a great day out is guaranteed.
