Once again, the Boyne Valley in County Meath and South County Louth is a hub of activity with events happening every weekend in the region throughout May. Here are the top events happening in the Boyne Valley this May.


Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival

After a three-year break, Navan Choral and Instrumental festival are back and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festival is being held in various locations around Navan and will bring musicians to the town from all across the world.


The Solstice Arts Centre events

As always, The Solstice Arts Centre in Navan has a great selection of events this month. Deirdre O’Kane preforms on the 5th of May, Beyond the Horizon on the 6th of May, Mary Black on the 25th of May and Anne Gildea on the 27th of May. 


The Cottage Market Drogheda

On the 6th of May, the Cottage Market Drogheda will be at Scotch Hall Shopping Centre in Drogheda.  Over 35 stalls will be in attendance and a fabulous selection of food and crafts made locally by talented makers.


The Headfort Arms Hotel

Enjoy the High Stool Prophets this May in the Headfort Arms Hotel. The band will play on the 5th of May and a great night is promised.

 

Droichead Arts Centre

Afternoon Tea at Slane Castle

Living History Weekend at the Irish Military War Museum

Living History Weekend at the Irish Military War Museum
The Irish Military War Museum will host a Living History Weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May from 11am- 4pm (on both days). Bookings are not required and there will be history talks, access to the indoor museum and live enactments on the day. 

Navan Racecourse

Join the team at Navan Racecourse on May 13th for flat racing. From the springtime through the summer Navan hosts a flat season of high-class competitive racing through the year. Quality flat racing with some of Irelands’ best horses, jockeys, and trainers while the social racegoer can enjoy great hospitality.

The Tumbling Paddies at the Irish Military War Museum

The Tumbling Paddies at the Irish Military War MuseumThe Tumbling Paddies will be the  main act at the first ever Music Marquee event at the Irish Military War Museum in Collon on Sunday 14th May. Supported by Ruby Red, doors open at 4pm. This is an over 18s event and there will be a bar and food on site for the gig.


Boyne Valley Viking Experience

After a great success last year, The Boyne Valley Viking Experience is back at Slane Castle on the 20th and 21st of May. It’s a fabulous family day out with  flashing swords, demonstrations, a tented Viking village, and a fleet of replica longships compete with sailors. Get it in the diary now.

 

Oldbridge Floral and Food Fair

Following on from the success of last year’s Oldbridge Floral and Food Fair, this year's fair will run over the course of two days. It will take place in the beautiful Walled Garden on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May from 10am to 4pm. So why not save the dates and join in the fun -watch dancing displays on Saturday and listen to hand clapping, toe tapping live music on Sunday., It promises to be a fantastic couple of days for all the family.

Rockathon at Fairyhouse Racecourse

Fairyhouse Racecourse is the place to be on May 27th to join the fantastic atmosphere at the Rockathon Festival. This family-friendly event is all about celebrating the most legendary rock acts of our time and promises to be a fantastic day out. Kids under 12 go free and there will be a food court, camping and fully-licensed bar as well as free parking on the day. Book your ticket directly via the rockathon.ie 


Open day at Beewise Nature Trail

Bee Wise Nature Trail has Open Days throughout the year where individuals and families can visit without having to be part of a larger group. Visit Paddy and his team on May 28th. Have a wander through the nature trail, see the bee’s in their hives and so much more!
