Hinterland Festival Returns to Kells

The much-loved Hinterland Festival returns to Kells, County Meath from 25th to 28th June for four inspiring days filled with storytelling, ideas, creativity and conversation.

Set against the backdrop of the historic town of Kells, the festival brings together leading writers, thinkers, artists and performers for a programme of talks, discussions and family events across unique venues throughout the town. The 2026 programme promises events for adults, families and young readers alike, making it one of the cultural highlights of the summer.

While visiting Kells, make sure to stop by Kells Courthouse Tourism and Cultural Hub, where interactive exhibitions, heritage displays and a replica of the famous Kells Crozier help bring the town’s rich history to life.

Get Creative with Lucy O’Gorman Ceramics

Looking to try something hands-on this June? Lucy O’Gorman Ceramics is hosting a beautiful Solstice Light Form workshop on 6th June.

Participants will create sculptural candle holders inspired by the midsummer season, featuring sun-rising motifs and standing forms that also make thoughtful handmade gifts. Workshops take place in Lucy’s studio at C15 V254 and offer a relaxing and creative experience perfect for beginners and craft lovers alike.

Take Me to the River 2026: Assembly_Breath_Resonance

Take me to the River

An outdoor gathering taking place on June 14th in the grounds of Teltown House, and along the River Blackwater in the Boyne Valley, this quiet, reflective assembly invites participants to connect with the site’s deep cultural history and living ecology in advance of the summer solstice.

 

Guided by historian Anthony Murphy, ecologist Emma Reeves, and sound artist Chloe McHugh, the event weaves together myth, landscape, biodiversity, and wellbeing.

Participants will hear about the ancient Tailteann Games, explore river habitats and wildlife, and experience a restorative sound bath by the river. The event encourages mindful listening, reflection, and a renewed sense of ecological and cultural responsibility.

Highlanes Gallery Lecture – Patronage and Power

On Friday 26th June, Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda hosts an illustrated lecture titled Patronage and Power: Who Commissioned the Drogheda Paintings by Gabriele Ricciardelli.

Presented by Brendan Matthews, this fascinating talk explores the remarkable eighteenth-century views of Drogheda attributed to Italian painter Gabriele Ricciardelli. The lecture forms part of Highlanes Gallery’s twentieth anniversary celebrations and offers a unique insight into the town’s artistic and cultural heritage.

Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 in Meath

Cruinniú na nÓg returns on Saturday 6th June with a full programme of free creative activities for children and young people across County Meath.

This national day of creativity celebrates imagination and self-expression through workshops, performances, music, art, theatre and interactive events designed especially for young people.

Events will take place across Ashbourne, Bettystown, Kells, Navan, Oldcastle and Trim, alongside schools programmes and community projects. Best of all, every event is completely free.

Kells TypeTrail Launches This June

Kells Type Trail

The countdown is on for the launch of Kells TypeTrail on 11th June.

Celebrating lettering, language, heritage and creativity, the TypeTrail transforms Kells into an open-air cultural experience that brings together artforms and communities from around the world. Each year, one word is translated into a variety of languages, reflecting the diversity and connection within the community.

The TypeTrail will run from 11th June until 21st August 2026.

Midsummer Jazz and Blues Weekend in Trim

Midsummer Jazz fest

Trim will come alive from 19th June – 21st June with music this June as the town hosts its very first Midsummer Jazz and Blues Weekend.

 

Visitors can enjoy live street entertainment, intimate pub sessions and dedicated performances in Trim’s hotels and the Swift Cultural Centre. Combined with scenic walks along the River Boyne, guided castle tours and fantastic food and shopping, it is the perfect excuse for a summer weekend away in the Boyne Valley.

Trim Haymaking Festival

The Trim Haymaking Festival is back on Sunday, 21st June, in the picturesque Porchfields, Trim!

Join us for a day of traditional music, vintage displays, local food, crafts, and family fun. Our fantastic lineup includes Brian Bru Ceili Band, Eddie Quinn & Ray Murtagh to get your feet-tapping with live music.

Stroll through vintage exhibits, grab a bite to eat, and soak up the community atmosphere. The festival is a lovely way to spend a summer Sunday in Trim.

BBQ Nights at Emerald Park

Emerald Park is turning up the heat this June with two exciting BBQ Nights taking place on 19th and 26th June.

Hosted in the park’s new Garden Marquee, these evenings combine great food with access to some of Ireland’s most thrilling rides, including Cú Chulainn, Fianna Force and Quest.

The BBQ runs from 6pm to 10pm and is strictly over 18s only. Tickets are priced at €600 per table of ten, making it an ideal option for groups, corporate outings and summer celebrations with friends.

Navan Midsummer Festival

Midsummer

Navan will come alive with music, food & drink, crafts, entertainment, and more this June!

The new festival, which will take place from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st of June, is a tourism and community initiative developed by Meath County Council to celebrate the Boyne Valley, the Summer Solstice and Navan’s unique cultural and heritage offering.

The festival programme will feature a diverse mix of music, comedy and storytelling, alongside a strong programme of family‑friendly events. At the heart of the weekend will be the Midsummer Market, taking place in a section of the car park at St Mary’s Church, showcasing local food producers, craft and family activity.
