A Legacy of Passion and Pedal Power

Ras Tailteann 1956

First held in 1953, Rás Tailteann has become a cornerstone of Irish sporting heritage. Named after the ancient Tailteann Games, held near Kells in County Meath, the race celebrates endurance, tradition, and Irish identity. For 70 years, it has provided a stage for rising talent and international cyclists alike, bringing top-tier racing to towns and villages across Ireland.

The 2025 Route: 760KM of Grit and Glory

Ras tailteann Route

This year’s race will stretch over five action-packed stages, covering more than 760KM and featuring 13 categorised climbs. Here's a look at the 2025 route:

Stage 1: Drogheda to Boyle
Kicking off in the vibrant town of Drogheda, the Rás heads west to finish in Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Expect fast starts and fresh legs in this first contest of strategy and speed.

Stage 2: Charlestown to Maumtrasna
The longest stage of the race begins after a transfer to Charlestown, tackling the dramatic Windy Gap and Maumtrasna climbs, a real test for the climbers.

Stage 3: Cong to Miltown Malbay
After a transfer to Cong, riders will pass through some of the Wild Atlantic Way's most scenic routes before a likely sprint finish in County Clare.

Stage 4: Ennis to Mountrath
This demanding penultimate stage crosses two category three climbs before a late push over the category one Wolftrap climb. It could be a decisive day.

Stage 5: Kildare to Bective
The race concludes with a fast and tactical ride from Kildare Town across the Meath plains, ending in Bective, a fitting finale in the heart of the Boyne Valley.
