Living History Walking Tour of Athboy

Professional tour guide and actor, Fiona Dalton brings the local Goddess of Samhain alive in an original living history tour of the heritage town of Athboy with a two hour guided walk around the sights to see and stories to hear as well as learning about her own legend from Celtic Mythology.

The tour starts off with the history of Tlachtga and Halloween including a visit to the famous fairy Fort which is reputed to be the entrance to the underworld in Irish mythology. 

There are then eight stops around the town where you will learn about the original eccentric owners of Athboy who ended up selling the town at the turn of the last century.  Another stop bring you to meet the most famous son of Athboy who virtually saved the Irish language from extinction and whose statue sits proudly in a churchyard. 

The tour finished at the bar of the Lawrence hotel where as an optional extra you can avail of an hour of Irish food, drink and music to relax with after your tour, prices separate payable to hotel.

 

Group tickets only for up to 5 guests = €250

Group tickets for 6 to 10 guests = €300

Group tickets for 11 to15 guests= €350

 

One tour per day each Tuesday - start times are flexible

11am, 2pm or 5pm in Spring/Summer (April to September)

11am, or 2pm in Autumn/Winter (October to November)
