Frayne Woodcraft

We are a small bespoke woodturning and stick dressing business based in Kildalkey, Co. Meath.

Damian is the woodturner and stick dresser, creating individual pieces from mainly Irish hardwoods or hardwoods from sustainable forests. Each piece is handcrafted and then finished with food safe oils and waxes allowing the beauty of the wood to come through.

Our items are both functional and decorative and range from bowls, boards, pens, clocks, walking sticks and unique wedding gifts. All pieces are hand finished to a high standard and no two pieces are the same.

Frayne Woodcraft is now facilitating some immersive experiences:

Woodturning Lessons:

We are running 1:1 Woodturning lessons and from April 2026 we will be able to provide lessons in woodturning for up to 3 people.

These lessons run Monday to Saturday, the 1:1 are €35 per hour, and the group lessons are €30 per hour per person.

The lessons would suit beginners, and a minimum of 2 hours is recommended.

Booking in advance is required.

Tour: From Root to Bowl experience:

Join Frayne Woodcraft for this unique immersive experience, enjoy a mythology talk on local trees, with a chance to delve into the Ogham alphabet and find your connection with the surrounds followed by a woodturning demonstration. It will include a cuppa and a chat about the wonderful Boyne Valley and a chance to see some of the unique hand turned products and an opportunity to purchase some of these one-off creations.

The tours will run from the 7^{th of} April to the 30^{th of} September.

Private Group; 4 to 10 people, 3 hours, €50 per person

• A guided walk around an area with some of the native trees and some information on the mythology and beliefs behind the trees and their spirit connections.
• A woodturning demonstration in our workshop with any questions answered in relation to this wonderful craft.
• A look at the Ogham alphabet and its connection to each tree and to find your spirit tree on the Ogham calendar.
• A cuppa and a chat and a chance to answer any other questions you may have
• An opportunity to peruse and buy some of the unique hand turned products made here in Kildalkey.
• Includes a small memento of your time spend with Frayne Woodcraft

Private group bookings available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7^th April to 30^th September, 2pm to 5pm subject to availability.

Private bookings can also be facilitated on other days if required and if availability allows, please contact in advance to avail of this.

We are located on a bog road and have parking for up to 5 cars or a small coach.

The initial talk and walk will take place in a field with some uneven terrain so suitable footwear is required, this walk at the moment is not wheelchair friendly unfortunately, but the demo part is.
