LÚ FESTIVAL OF LIGHT, A SPECTACULAR URBAN ANIMATION SHOW RUNNING FROM THE OCTOBER 24th - 27th
The much-anticipated Lú Festival of Light returns for its fourth spectacular year, lighting up Drogheda from 24th to 27th October. A vibrant celebration of ancient mythology, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Inspired by Ireland’s legendary tales, the 2025 edition will bring to life powerful stories from Cú Chulainn & Ferdia, The Morrigan, and Queen Maeve’s Táin march, alongside a shining tribute to the remarkable people and achievements of Drogheda. Through breath-taking light displays, immersive installations, and captivating light and sound performances, Drogheda’s streets will be transformed into a living canvas of story and spectacle.
Lú Festival of Light 2025 is set to be the premier urban animation and lighting event in Ireland this year and will deliver dazzling displays, rich storytelling, extraordinary street performance and immersive atmosphere within the town.
Our stories will be brought to life over eight days of stunning illuminations that will light up the Old Abbey, St Peters Church and Laurence’s Gate using the latest digital technology, projection, sound and animation to weave a compelling tale of our mythological past.
Journey through time along the trail and discover the stories of Boann, the Salmon of Knowledge, Amergin, the Gods of Newgrange and many more. The illuminations focus on these magical stories that are rooted in the beautiful Boyne Valley region.
The festival will host live street performance, together with family friendly entertainment and our cafes, bars, restaurants, and hospitality sector look forward to welcoming guests to our town.
