Droichead Presents Drama | Theatre Club Autumn/Winter 2026
Set up in 2017 and this September celebrating 10 years, Droichead Theatre Club brings audiences together to see a play, and, like a book club, our audiences can share their views, thoughts, and impressions informally post-show with the cast and creatives. To celebrate 10 years this September, we have one of our biggest seasons to date, with premieres, new work, new voices, traditional stories, dance, Droichead-supported co-productions, and a work in progress, including work by Clare Monnelly, Deirdre Kinahan, Paula Greevy Lee, Anthony Kinahan, Elizabeth Moynihan and our annual visit to The Abbey Theatre. That's 8 plays, and one work in progress for only €125. (Bus also included for the Abbey Theatre).

During the course of a shopping trip for a Debs dress with her daughter, a slightly frazzled mother makes a life-changing discovery - not only does her daughter not want a dress, she doesn't want a boy either. And that’s just at the mid-morning coffee break! So begins the story of she/they & me, a new play from Paula Greevy-Lee (A Rare Journey – Nora Joyce’s Odyssey), and once this particular genie is out of her/their bottle, well the changes keep coming. Including a whole new vocabulary that needs to be learned…
This stage reading will include an original score composed by Brian Keegan. Supported and developed by Droichead Arts Centre.

A gripping high energy show, Earthfall weaves dance theatre and circus with cultural dances from Zimbabwe, Brazil and Ireland.
Trapped in a Kafkaesque realm of incomprehensible rules, with boundaries and schedules that change without rhyme or reason, four people explore how to survive an endless limbo. A young girl is watching. How much of what she witnesses are her own nightmares and how much reality? Together they find pathways that lead them deeper into the restricting maze until their connection to each other brings strength to bend rules and break walls. Showcasing outstanding Irish and international contemporary and cultural dancers, Earthfall is at once an explosive celebration of cultural diversity and a heart wrenching reflection on the consequences of borders and inhumane immigration policies.

‘Ireland is full’? Of what exactly?
A birthday celebration turns febrile when a rural Irish family address their sister’s relationship with a refugee. Fierce, funny and immediate, ADRIFT is a contemporary family drama exploring the psychology of fear and Ireland’s complex relationship with emigration.
‘You can’t even have the conversation!’ - Well, what better place than theatre? In ADRIFT, Kinahan explores the ironic rise of Irish anti-immigrant sentiment with her celebrated humour and humanity, taking the arguments that seem to set fire to hearts and buildings right into the Irish kitchen.
Deirdre Kinahan is one of Ireland’s major contemporary playwrights. Previous loved plays include OUTRAGE, The Saviour, An Old Song Half Forgotten, TEMPESTA, The Unmanageable Sisters, Rathmines Road, Moment, Halcyon Days. The girls are back!
Together for the first time in a long time. Their friendships were forged in a garden shed in the noughties and built to last. From Meanies to mid-life crises, pre-drinks to school drop offs, sneaking out to sneaky affairs, life has gotten complicated, and it’s all about to hit the fan.
At 13, they were sure they wanted the same things from life. Now, they’re not even sure they share the same values.
Can the bonds of girlhood withstand the messy truths of adulting? Jumping between the teenage chaos of the noughties and the equally chaotic present day, Good Girls is a fast-paced, hilarious and heartfelt love letter to female friendship. Written by award winning playwright Clare Monnelly (Charlie’s A Clepto, The Hare) and directed by Aaron Monaghan (Playboy of the Western World, Tarry Flynn), Good Girls brings together a stellar cast including Alex Conlon, Maeve Fitzgerald, Katie Honan, Amelia Keating, Aisling O’Mara, and Roseanna Purcell alongside an incredible creative team to serve up a night of theatre you won’t soon forget.
