Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir returns on Friday 18th September 2026 for its 21st edition, bringing a nationwide celebration of culture, creativity and the arts to communities across Ireland.
From towns and villages to rural communities and unexpected spaces, Culture Night is a chance to discover the culture that exists all around us. Across the Boyne Valley, it offers an opportunity to experience the region's creativity, heritage and community spirit, with special events and activities taking place throughout the evening.
Best of all, Culture Night is free to attend, making it an easy opportunity to get out, try something different and discover more of what the Boyne Valley has to offer.
What is Culture Night?
Culture Night is an annual all-island celebration brought to you by the Arts Council in partnership with local authorities and cultural organisations.
The aim is to celebrate the richness and diversity of culture in Ireland today and to encourage people to engage with culture in their own communities.
It is an evening when participating venues open their doors and offer special events and experiences created specifically for Culture Night. Rather than being limited to traditional arts venues, Culture Night takes place in all kinds of locations, from libraries, theatres and galleries to community spaces and other unexpected settings.
The result is one night where people can discover something new, experience something familiar in a different way and connect with the culture on their doorstep.
Culture Night 2026: One Night For All
The theme for Culture Night 2026 is One Night For All, reflecting the idea that culture is for everyone.
You do not need to be an artist, a regular theatre-goer or a history enthusiast to enjoy Culture Night. It is designed to be open, welcoming and accessible, with opportunities for people of all ages and interests to take part.
The 2026 programme features a broad range of cultural experiences, including music, theatre, dance, visual art, literature, film, spoken word, workshops and exhibitions. There will also be Irish-language events, family experiences and activities taking place later into the evening.
