September is a great time to explore the Boyne Valley. The busy summer months are beginning to wind down, but there is still plenty happening across Meath and Louth, from live music and theatre to family days out, cultural celebrations and some wonderfully unique events.
This September, you can enjoy everything from an evening with Liverpool legends and a Garth Brooks tribute to Culture Night, a Taylor Swift afternoon for the whole family and so much more!
There is also a particularly busy weekend from 11th to 13th September, when the Siamsa Glas Festival brings a wide range of events celebrating Irish culture, community, creativity, music, nature and the outdoors.

Liverpool Legends Live with John Aldridge & John Barnes

Football fans have a very special evening to look forward to at CityNorth Hotel on Friday, 4th September, when Liverpool legends John Aldridge and John Barnes come together for one night only.
Liverpool Legends Live promises an intimate evening filled with dressing room stories, career highlights and a live Q&A with two players who became hugely familiar names to football fans around the world.
John Aldridge enjoyed a hugely successful career with Liverpool, while John Barnes became one of the club's most celebrated and recognisable players. Together, they offer fans the chance to hear first-hand stories from their playing careers and get an insight into life behind the scenes.

The Glyde Inn in Annagassan will host Sheer Luck Holmes – The Case of the Floating Fiancée on Wednesday, 9th September, combining a four-course meal with an interactive murder mystery evening.
A mysterious fiancée, a baffling case and a room full of suspects set the scene as Holmes, Watson and Mrs Hudson attempt to unravel their latest extraordinary mystery.
Guests won't simply be watching from the sidelines. With audience participation, comedy, unexpected twists and plenty of clues to consider, you'll have the chance to work out exactly what happened before the final course is served.

Emerald Park BBQ Nights
Friday, 11th September | Emerald Park, Ashbourne
Dinner followed by some of Ireland's biggest and most thrilling rides sounds like a pretty good way to spend a Friday night.
Emerald Park is hosting a special BBQ night on Friday, 11th September, in its new Garden Marquee. The event is designed for pre-booked groups, making it an option for friends, colleagues and groups looking for something a little different.
The BBQ runs from 6pm to 10pm, with guests then able to enjoy access to a selection of Emerald Park's rides, including Cú Chulainn, Fianna Force and Quest.
Tickets are €600 for a table of 10, and the event is for over 18s only.
It's dinner with a difference, followed by the chance to take on some of the country's most dramatic rides after dark.

Siamsa Glas Festival
Friday, 11th to Sunday, 13th September | Across the Boyne Valley
One of the highlights of September in the Boyne Valley is the Siamsa Glas Festival, taking place from Friday, 11th to Sunday, 13th September.
The festival brings together a packed programme celebrating the people, culture, heritage, language, food, music, creativity and natural landscape of the Boyne Valley. Over three days, there is a huge variety of events to choose from, with something for families, outdoor enthusiasts, music lovers, foodies, history buffs and anyone looking to try something a little different.
The festival gets underway on Friday with the Tóraíocht Taisce ar an Greenway – Greenway Treasure Hunt, followed by a Bodhrán Workshop for Kids and Bodhrán Workshop for Adults. The evening continues with the Friday Soulful Reset, while the Celtic Soundbath offers a relaxing end to the day.
Saturday brings a full programme of activities. The Féile Siamsa Glas gets the day underway, alongside Storytelling and Music with Julie Anne, a special workshop for children under eight and their families featuring percussion, storytelling, rhymes, dance and singing.
Visitors can also discover the area's heritage with Guided Tours of Nobber Heritage Centre and learn more about local sporting history during the History of the Tailteann Games with Gerry O'Brien.
For those who like to stay active, there is An Rith Glas – The Green Run 5km, the Turas Rothar Teaghlaigh & Picnic – Family Bike Ride & Picnic, and the Castletown Tidy Towns Greenway Walk – Siúlóid an Bhealaigh Ghláis i mBaile an Chaisleáin.
There are plenty of hands-on activities throughout the day too, including the Kids Pottery Painting Workshop, Herbal Workshop, Wet Felt Flower Brooch Workshop and Bread Making with James Tallon. The Maker & Bakers Market is another opportunity to browse local creations, produce and baked goods.
The weekend also brings theatre and performance to the festival programme with 'Save the Last Dance' Railway Drama – Wilkinstown Village (The Platform), offering a unique outdoor theatrical experience.
As the afternoon turns into evening, there's more music and entertainment to enjoy, including Music, Craic and Chat in Finns, the Opening Event Cultural Concert with Gatehouse Musical Group & Brenda Castles, and Oíche Ceoil agus Craic.
Sunday continues the programme with Comórtas Arán Tíre – Bread Competition, giving bread enthusiasts the chance to showcase their baking skills, while families can enjoy Sensory Play at Wilkinstown.
Those looking for a slower start to the day can take part in Pilates & Matcha on the Greenway, while nature lovers can join the Biodiversity Walk with Dr Emma Reeves and discover more about the wildlife and natural environment of the Boyne Valley.
Cyclists can take part in the Cuairt Rothar ar Ghaeltacht Bhaile Ghib – Gaeltacht Bike Ride, combining cycling with an opportunity to explore the Gaeltacht area.
Music returns to the Greenway with the Ceol @ Beo Greenway Session, while the 'Save the Last Dance' Railway Drama – Kilmainhamwood Platform gives audiences another opportunity to experience the railway-inspired production in a different location.
The festival programme also features the Craobh na Phráta – The Potato Championship, adding a wonderfully local and traditional touch to the weekend.
With such a broad programme spread across three days, Siamsa Glas is a chance to experience many different sides of the Boyne Valley in one weekend. The Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience

If you're a country music fan, get ready for a night of Friends in Low Places at Knightsbrook Hotel on Friday, 11th September.
The Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience sees Trevor Smith bring the music and energy of one of country music's biggest stars to Trim for a night of classic Garth Brooks hits.
Expect everything from heartfelt ballads to foot-stomping favourites, with a high-energy performance designed for singing along.
Doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are €35 plus booking fee, with an overnight package also available from €249.

Onoir Live at the Headfort Arms Hotel
Saturday 19th of September
Onóir are a modern Irish male folk group, who sing harmony-focused songs and musical arrangements. Formed in August of 2020, when four individual, Donegal-based musicians; Tom McHugh, Declan Gaughan, Deane Connaghan, and Diarmaid McGee, joined forces to create a contemporary version of the famous Irish folk ballad; “The Auld Triangle”. Onóir's 2026 Brotherhood tour takes the band to theatres across Ireland, The UK, Europe, and also to North American in June and November of this year. In between their one hundred plus shows in 2026, the group are in the studio finishing off their second album. Their self-titled, debut album was released on March 3rd 2024 and is available to purchase via their Bandcamp page.

Culture Night in the Boyne Valley
Friday, 18th September
Culture Night returns on Friday, 18th September for its 21st edition, bringing an evening of culture, creativity and the arts to communities across Ireland.
The Boyne Valley will be part of this nationwide celebration, with special events taking place in participating locations across the region.
Culture Night, or Oíche Chultúir, is a chance to discover something new, experience local creativity and enjoy cultural events close to home. From towns and villages to rural locations and other participating venues, the programme offers an opportunity to see the Boyne Valley from a different perspective.
Best of all, Culture Night events are free to the public, making it a great opportunity to get out and experience some of the cultural activity happening throughout the region.

Katherine Priddy and Darragh O'Dea
Sunday, 20th September | Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda
Music fans can round off the weekend with an intimate evening at Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda as Katherine Priddy performs with special guest Darragh O'Dea.
Priddy has established herself as one of the most exciting artists on the contemporary British music scene, known for her distinctive finger-picking guitar style and haunting vocals. Her music explores themes of connection, change and finding your way through difficult times.
She will be joined by Irish songwriter Darragh O'Dea, whose latest album brings together influences ranging from Leonard Cohen and John Cale to Wilco, with contributions from musicians including Anthony Thistlethwaite of The Waterboys.
The concert takes place in the cafe bar at Droichead Arts Centre, creating a more intimate setting for an evening of live music.

Droichead Theatre Club Autumn/Winter Season

If theatre is more your thing, September marks the beginning of a special season for Droichead Theatre Club, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
The Autumn/Winter 2026 season features eight plays and a work in progress, bringing together new work, new voices, premieres, traditional stories, dance and Droichead-supported productions. The programme includes work by Clare Monnelly, Deirdre Kinahan, Paula Greevy-Lee, Anthony Kinahan and Elizabeth Moynihan, along with the theatre club's annual visit to the Abbey Theatre.
The season opens on Thursday, 24th September with To Hell in a Handbag: The Secret Lives of Canon Chasuble & Miss Prism, a funny and irreverent take on the world behind Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.
On Friday, 25th September, she/they and me arrives as a work in progress, written and performed by Paula Greevy-Lee and directed by Gerard Lee.
The wider season continues through to November, giving theatre lovers plenty of opportunities to experience live performance at Droichead Arts Centre.

Taylor Time Comes to Navan

Calling all Swifties!
On Saturday, 26th September, the Newgrange Hotel in Navan will host Taylor Time, a family-friendly Taylor Swift tribute experience celebrating music from across Taylor's different eras.
Expect plenty of singing, dancing, glitter, friendship bracelets and all the familiar songs that have made Taylor Swift one of the biggest names in music.
