Back for 2022 bigger and better than ever. The Spirits of Meath festival is now in its 13th year and promises lots of fun by day and frights by night. According to legend, Samhain, the ancient Celtic Festival that we now call Halloween, originated here in Co. Meath in the Boyne Valley. Samhain was said to mark the harvest and a time of transition, with feasting and celebration as the long winter nights approached. To this day the Boyne Valley has remained the home of Halloween, the modern equivalent of Samhain. Discover over 80 events over the 31 days of October and into November. Every Thursday in the month of October, Rock Farm Farmers market is the place to be from 11am to 4pm. A rich display of local produce, crafts, food, and drinks awaits in their barn. The popular Rock Farm Tours also run every Thursday- pre booking is required.


Cottage Market Drogheda
Cottage Market Drogheda
The Cottage Market Drogheda will hold 2 markets this month. The 1st of October will see them in St Peters Church of Ireland Hall from 11am to 4pm and on the 29th of October from 9am to 6pm for their indoor Halloween cottage market at Scotch Hall. Discover over 30 local homemade, homegrown, and handcrafted stalls. There will be entertainment and a monthly workshop also.

Make your way to Fairyhouse Racecourse on the 8th of October for a fantastic day of racing as they welcome back the National Hunt season with The Return of the Jumps. This is a hugely popular day as the National Hunt season kicks into action in style at the home of the Boyle Sports Irish Grand National.

Celebrating great music and artists, the Drogheda Classical music season has something for every taste. On Fri 21 Oct, French pianist, and winner of the inaugural Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988, Philippe Cassard, will mark his 60th birthday with a programme of popular and well-known works for solo piano by Mozart, Debussy and Schubert.

Oktoberfest is back at the Central bar and restaurant in Navan on the 7th and 8th of October. A Boyne Valley celebration of this traditional German Festival. Two evenings showcasing the best of local beers, accompanied by local beef and pork.

Púca is back and out to make mischief this Halloween! Returning in 2022 with music, fire, feasting and merriment in Trim and Athboy.
